Sherman III (Early) Conversion Set
After its successful introduction in North Africa at the time of El Alamein, the Sherman came into its own in Tunisia, Sicily and Italy. Although the Mk II (M4A1) was the first to be issued to British Forces, the Mk III (M4A2) quickly became more numerous in this period and had the advantage of a less volatile fuel, being diesel powered. It should be noted that Mks I to V were all produced contemporaneously in different plants and so similar improvement features tend to appear across each mark.
This kit provides details to adapt the Heller and Dragon 1/72 kits of the Sherman Mk III to British configuration as seen in the period Spring 1943 through to the Spring of the following year in the Mediterranean Theatre of operations. It features etched brass and resin parts, including dust shields, brushguards for the lamps and a turret stowage bin adopted from the Crusader tank.
Another kit will be released shortly for the earliest Shermans as used at Alamein and during the advance to Triopli.
Note that the photographs show a prototype model and the actual set has the slightly later pattern dust-guard front section.
